Meet Dr. McAndrew

Dr. Brian P. McAndrew was raised in Philadelphia, PA. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Albright College in 1989. In 1993 Dr. McAndrew graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine as a member of the prestigious Matthew Cryer Honor Society. He subsequently accepted a residency position in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in 1993 and completed his training in 1997 when he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. McAndrew’s love for medicine led him to return to medical school at the Medical College of Virginia where he earned his medical degree in 1999 and completed an internship in general/trauma surgery at VCU Medical Center of Richmond in 2000. He later completed a fellowship certified by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in general cosmetic surgery at The Cosmetic Surgery Center in Little Rock, AR. Dr. McAndrew practiced in Virginia until 2013 when he relocated his practice to his wife’s home state of Massachusetts. He returned to Virginia in 2017 and was an associate in a practice in Newport News before opening his own practice here in Williamsburg.
Dr. McAndrew is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, as well as the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, and the Virginia Dental Association and Peninsula Dental Society.
Dr. McAndrew served an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2011 until 2015. He is extremely involved in organized dentistry and medicine and has held numerous leadership positions. He is a past-President of the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (VSOMS) where he was also a member of its executive council. Dr. McAndrew was formerly the Chairman of the VSOMS Office Anesthesia Examination Committee and has served as an expert consultant to the Virginia Board of Dentistry. He has served as a delegate to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons House of Delegates and was a member on its Reference Committee. He is currently an alternate delegate. Dr. McAndrew was also appointed to the Board of Director for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Political Action Committee where he spent time advocating for the specialty and more importantly advocating for patients at both the state and federal levels. He has also served on numerous committees at the state, regional and national level.
Dr. McAndrew enjoys practicing the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with a keen interest in ambulatory anesthesia, dentoalveolar and implant surgery, pathology and reconstructive surgery, trauma surgery, and the treatment and management of medically complex patients. He lectures on many of these topics to colleagues and allied staff.
Dr. McAndrew and his family have fallen in love with the greater Williamsburg community since relocating from Massachusetts. He is extremely excited to be opening his practice in Williamsburg and serving the community. When not working, Dr. McAndrew enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He is an avid sports fan, and loves spending time outdoors.
